Claregalway dancer features in TV3 documentary


A Claregalway Irish dancer is being featured in a TV documentary after winning her fifth world title in a row earlier this year.

Claire Greaney (21, pictured above with her parents Martin Joe and Mary) has been dancing for the past 17 years and on Easter Saturday last again won the World Irish Dancing Championships. Her achievements and reputation in dancing circles prompted her inclusion in documentary ‘Strictly Irish Dancing’  currently showing on TV3 on Wednesday nights.  She was also featured in feature length Irish dancing documentary ‘Jig’, which was realesed this year.

Time is more valuable than money


Many people associate successful people with good time management, much of that success is attributed to the statement “doing the right thing, at the right time”. People often say that successful people are blessed with money and resources, yet they did not start out like this. While most successful business people have personal assistants and secretaries, the reason that they are successful is precisely derived from the statement above. They are doing the right thing at the right time.  They have clarity on how to prioritise and focus on the important tasks. Many of these successful people are highly disciplined and organised or else they surround themselves with people who are. They know the basic principles to time management and succeed.

Update on Roadworks and Traffic in Galway


Galway City Council wishes to advise the public regarding traffic congestion and resulting traffic delays in the city.

Recent weeks have seen significant traffic volumes travelling to the City Centre and also wishing to travel across the City, resulting in congestion and delays

The traffic volumes arise from a combination of factors not least of which is the limited capacity of the existing road network and junctions in and around the city to cope with such peak volumes. This results in unavoidable delays for all road users. (more…)

Nightmare goes on for flooded families with no insurance


The nightmare caused by the flooding in County Galway in 2009 still continues for dozens of families more than 20 months later as they are being denied insurance cover in the event of a similar disaster occurring.

And to compound their difficulties, the Government along with the Insurance Regulator have ‘washed their hands’ of the troubled families who have now nowhere else to go to get flood insurance. (more…)

Anger as thieves stoop low to steal from a dozen graves

A rural County Galway community is left distraught following the theft of items from more than a dozen graves in the local cemetery.

And the fact that six ceramic angels were stolen from the grave of a baby in Lackagh Cemetery has made it all the more distressing for locals.

Gardai are investigating the thefts from the graveyard and are seeking the public’s help in trying to trace who was responsible. (more…)
