Report of local resident’s volunteer work in Africa

This summer a group of students, teachers and I travelled to South Africa to engage in some volunteer work. The work was to comprise of a mixture of teaching and building. On Sunday the 19^th of July, after 34 hours travel, we arrived at our destination of Matatiele, Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. The group was divided into two sub groups of nine, each of which worked independently on different sites. In Ntabeni the objective was to further the building of a four classroom complex, in St Matthews the construction of a private toilet building was the aim. (more…)

Big names row in behind Claregalway Art Auction

A number of the biggest names in Irish art are among participants in this year’s Claregalway Educate Together art auction on April 18th in the Westwood House Hotel, Dangan, Galway.

City Choir seeks new members

Galway Choral Association is inviting new members to join the choir as they start preparations for a special summer concert.
On Friday, June 11, the 50 strong choir will be joined by the Casper Civic Chorale from Wyoming USA for a unique choral experience in St. Nicholas’ Collegiate Church. (more…)
