THE mention of Turloughmore on an application form for home insurance cover is sending insurance companies diving  for cover as they associate  the area with flooding.

New Parish Education Centre in Lackagh


Work is under way on the new Parish Education Centre at the rear of the Church.  The idea of building the centre was ititiated by our museum committee who saw the need for expansion due to a demand for extra facilities. Many local activities are church based and as such, the committee sought approval from the Parish team in providing this accommodation to suit all parish requirements. (more…)

Assistant Secretary: Josephine Noone

Treasurer: Pat O Connell

Gridlock still major concern for county motorists as city roundabouts go

THE impact of Galway city’s new traffic management plans on drivers entering the city from around the county was one of the main points of interest for Co. Council members who met with their city counterparts at a Joint Policy Committee meeting on Monday.

The controversial plan to replace a series of roundabouts with signalised traffic lights, controlled from a manned central office, is still causing problems for the City Council. (more…)

Le Grá Craft Studio and Gallery-Claregalway Shopping Centre


Le Grá Craft Studio and Gallery opened on the 10th of October at the Claregalway Shopping Centre (behind Hughes’ Supervalu). “I love Irish craft and design.” says owner Ester Kiely. “I’m very lucky to have met so many creative people in Galway whose work is beautiful, well made and inspiring. Galway also has a great source of new, emerging talent graduating from GMIT and GTI every year. I wanted to provide all of these artisans with an outlet for their work and also to invite the community to learn new craft-skills in a friendly environment.”
