Claregalway Ladies Football Club


The Ladies Club end of year Presentations took place on Saturday 3rd December.  The evening was a great success with each team from U10 to U16 being honoured.  Jimmy Hughes representing main sponsors Hughes Supervalu was on hand to present the medals to the recently crowned U16A County Champions.  (more…)

Millions spent on Claregalway flood relief but road is as bad as ever

Floodwater is again causing a traffic hazard in the centre of Claregalway but it appears that nothing can be done until a system can be put in place to allow it to be treated and discharged into the Clare river.

Recent heavy rain has caused flooding in the centre of the village and is presenting a problem for motorists on the busy N17, a meeting of Galway County Council was told this week. (more…)

Riveroaks Residents Association Childrens Halloween Party 2011


Riveroaks Residents Association held a Childrens Halloween Party on Monday 31st October in Claregalway Hotel.

The event was generously sponsored by the Claregalway Hotel and included a Disco, Halloween Games, Fancy Dress Competition for both children and adults as well as a Design a Pumpkin competition.

It was a fantastically well attended event and appeared to have been enjoyed by all.

Flood On N17 Outside Centra Store in Claregalway


You are no doubt well aware of the ‘flood’ that appears on the N17 outside theCentra store in Claregalway after any kind of rain. This can at times, the latest being yesterday, extend to the middle of the road causing untold danger to motorists and pedestrians. Recently a driver came very close to colliding with the wall after the flood pulled his car up on to the footpath such was the depth of water on the road. This ‘flood’ has also been well documented in the local media and it is past time something was done before it causes a serious accident. (more…)

A New Second-Level School for Claregalway



Latest Information

The new school patron is to be appointed early in 2012. The site is also to be purchased in 2012, and planning will be followed swiftly by the building of the new school to open in Claregalway in September 2013.

The Parents Committee has been contacted by Co. Galway VEC as part of their patronage application preparation. To help parents understand the patronage decision process, a public meeting is being organised where the VEC will present their proposals and explain their approach to the management of the new school and the education of our children. The meeting will be held on Wednesday 23rd November at 8.30pm, in the Claregalway Hotel. All parents are invited and all interested parties are welcome to attend. (more…)

The OPW wish to invite any interested parties to a Public Information Evening to be held on the 30th of November from 4pm -7pm at the Claregalway Hotel, Claregalway. The purpose of the event is to offer interested parties the opportunity to meet with the engineering and environmental consultants appointed to the project and to offer their views on the preferred Scheme and the identified environmental constraints.
