This report has been prepared with the objective of identifying practical measures to address flooding on the Clare River and on its main tributary, the Abbert River, within a study area from Lough Corrib to Corofin in County Galway. On Friday the 30th June 2010 we held an ice cream day in Claregalway National School. We raised €436 for the Downs Syndrome Ireland.
The amount includes donations from the pupils and teachers plus some private donations which I want to sincerely thank. I would like to take this opportunity to offer sincere thank you to all of the parents, children and teachers who contributed on the day. (more…)

21 Jul 2010 New Second Level School in place in Claregalway by 2011?
A new secondary school may be in sight for Claregalway following what was described a “very positive meeting” with Minister for Education Mary Coughlan last evening (Tuesday).
Sean Duffy, Education Officer with Co. Galway VEC, who was on the delegation, said they asked the Minister to give the go-ahead for the new school. (more…)

14 Jul 2010 20th Anniversary Celebrations for Claregalway Agricultural Show
In 1991 a small enthusiastic group of people got together, formed a committee and the first Claregalway Agricultural Show was launched. Twenty years later the committee is still small but equally enthusiastic and the show has blossomed from the small show it was then to the now very well known large show. An enormous effort has been put in by the committee over the years to bring the show to the level it’s at today.

Following the success of last years “Family Fun Day & Motorsport Show”, Frank Byrnes Autobody Repairs in Oranmore are delighted to announce that they will once again host this wonderful day out for all the family.
The event, run in aid of CD’s Helping Hands, the children’s cancer charity for the west of Ireland will take place on Sunday July 18th 2010. From 2-6pm, visitors will be treated to displays such as stunt riding by Mattie Griffin, kick boxing by Ken Horan and various aqua displays courtesy of Galway’s Atlantaquaria. (more…)

06 Jul 2010 Claregalway GAA – U14 Division 1 Féile Champions 2010
The Claregalway Ladies began their journey to Féile at 7.45am on Friday 2nd July with a lovely prayer from Fr. Ian O’ Neill PP before embarking on the long journey to Greencastle in Tyrone where the team was being hosted by Sperrin Óg Football Club. The 1st match was against the host club and was played with a very strong breeze across the pitch. Claregalway opened up the score and stayed well ahead all through the game conceding just one goal which was the only goal conceded throughout the entire Féile Finals. The final score 8-7 to 1-2.
That evening the team travelled to Celtic Park in Derry for the Féile Peil na nÓg Parade where they joined with the U14 Claregalway Boys to represent their Club and County with great pride. (more…)
