After a number of years of campaigning for bus shelters in the village of Claregalway, Bus Éireann have now been granted planning permission for a bus shelter opposite the Arches Hotel. I understand that the Council have received proposals from local interested groups for the location of a bus shelter on the other side of the road. I will be following up on this issue. In the meantime I will be on to Bus Éireann to have the shelter that planning is granted for erected as soon as possible.

Pictured with Ian Claxton and Therese Rock from The Elmtree Clinic in Oranmore are Catherine O Donavan and the group from Belarus who were kindly treated to Acupuncture and Reflexology treamtents courtesy of The ElmTree Clinic Therapists.
The Group from Belarus were guests of Catherine O Donavan and Brigid McGowan both of whom were involved with children from Belarus for the past five years. Members of the group recieved special treatments which will help with their recuperation after traumatic illnesses.

The First Annual Galway Garden Festival was held in Claregalway Castle over the 10th and 11th of July 2010. The two-day event was hugely successful, with an overwhelming turnout, and a great community spirit, from local volunteers to the hundreds of Galway residents that supported the event.

28 Jul 2010 Traffic chaos predicted as Claregalway bridge to close for month
It is looking increasingly likely that the N17 will be blocked off for up to a month this winter while flood prevention measures are installed at Claregalway Bridge.
Engineers are planning what is termed a flood eye at the bridge which means they will be adding an additional channel on one side of the river to allow backed-up flood water flow under the bridge and on to Lough Corrib more easily. (more…)
