Claregalway workforce praised by Minister

CLAREGALWAY has celebrated a jobs boost this week with the official opening of a facility that has created almost 40 jobs across two centres in the county.

Minister for State at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, John Perry performed the official opening this week.

“Aspect is an excellent addition to the thriving technology sector in Ireland and endorses Ireland’s international reputation as a leading location for global software and IT services,” said the Minister.

“Having distinguished itself as a global industry leader with its customer contact solutions, Aspect’s expansion in Ireland is creating employment opportunities across a range of high-value activities, which are strategically important to the company’s overall operations.”

Mark King, senior vice president, Europe and Africa for Aspect said the availability of a multilingual workforce, along with high-calibre software engineers trained in NUI Galway and GMIT, and the support of IDA Ireland, exemplifies the decision to locate in Galway is the right one for Aspect.

The Galway facilities will provide technical support to Aspect customers in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and some parts of Asia Pacific.

Dreams Begin with Responsibility

Dreams begin with Responsibility

The recent visit of Barack Obama will be vivid in my mind for years to come. I happened to be working with a client in a building right behind where Barack Obama made his public address to the Irish Nation. The visit of Barack Obama had some catchy phrases:

“Whats the craic Barack?”

“Is féidir Linn!”

“You guys keep all the good Guinness to yourselves”

Much of the media attention focused on the audience applauding Obama’s use of Irish with “Is Féidir Linn”.  (more…)

REFLECTION – A Creed to Live By

Don’t undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.

It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Don’t set your goals by what other people deem important.

Only you know what is best for you.

Don’t take for granted the things closest to your heart. (more…)

FUNDING FOR GALWAY SECURED – Healy Eames

Challenge now for the region and management, is to make it work.

Senator Fidelma Healy Eames has been informed, following a series of high level representations made by her, that funding for Galway Airport has been secured. The funding for 2011 means that for the forseeable future, the viability of the airport has been safe-guarded.

“Galway businesses, the airport management and airport employees made a strong case for the retention of this airport. I continuously emphasised to Minister Varadkar the importance of the airport for tourism, regional development and the broader local economy. I am delighted to announce that it is safe, for now. As a region , however, we have to now make the case for its long-term future” (more…)

Finding my voice

Oh, I know. I have a voice. But this writing lark that I have gotten myself into has a very private and personal voice and to be honest, it is not one I always feel like sharing. I think that it is because I am still not quite ‘there’ yet. I still question all my ‘P’s’ and ‘Q’s’ (I always will) and I lack the confidence to brag-all-about it because it is just words. Not brilliantly written, not contrived. Just easy-reading story-telling kind of words. Sometimes whilst stalking other great writers (on Facebook) I pause to admire their skill and envy their commitment to writing profound pieces of literature. They write poetry, they attend all the readings and book launches. They are true artists suffering for their art. I’m just a Mum. And these are my words. (more…)
